We learned that Skeld’s youngest sister, Frigga, also came to the Boar clan. She just seemed to be able to do minor magical effects. So his father is alone back in the Stag clan.

One morning, Zanvyn came to wake up Bronin to show him something. He led him to a work area where the book and 4 suits of plate mail were neatly laid. He said he’s been translating the journal a little, but it’s not done. He wanted to show Bronin the plate mail suits. They were half enchanted, ready to be enchanted, but not actually enchanted yet. Bronin wondered if there was anyone (including Zanvyn) that could complete the enchantment. Zanvyn said he might be able to do it, but he would need materials to do so. He thought he could break down one of the suits to make material to enchant the others. The process would probably take weeks.

Skeld tried to campaign for getting the knowledge out of Zanvyn and then kill him, but the rest of us dissuaded him of this idea. He got into an argument with Sigurd over this and ended up walking away after diatribing about how much worse life is in the Boar clan.

We went to the Jarl with the idea from Zanvyn. We were hoping that he could complete it before the clan moudet, which we are three weeks away from.

The Jarl asked if he had a plan other than enchanting the armor since the winter winds are only a couple months away. Skeld mentioned that we could sell them at the moudet after they’re enchanted. The Jarl said she’s not sure another clan, other than the Raven clan, would have a use for them. Skeld also mentioned that now that more of his family is here, including his mother, when we rebuild, we could feasibly start a brewery.

The Jarl said that the problem that has always happened is that the icy ground is hard to break up and grow in. Skeld mentioned that perhaps Erfidi’s fire could be used to melt the ice. The Jarl said she was open to the idea, and probably the best point would be at the Halcyon Crest where the land is the flattest, but at the moment, she thinks we need to focus on the survival of the clan for the winter.

Skeld called Zanvyn over to join us to talk about what he thought he could do. He said potentially, he could enchant all three of the other suits of armor by breaking down one of them. Skeld asked if in the future he could try enchanting items for us like the ones we obtained from the Cobalt Crusade. It’s possible the experience working with the armor could help him learn the skills he would need to start on those kinds of things.

We gave Zanvyn permission to destroy the one suit of armor to start trying to enchant the others. He said this would delay the translation of the journal, but in his skimming of it so far, it seems to be the dragonborn’s random musing. Skeld asked him to keep an eye out for any mention of the Silk Witch in the journal and maybe to try starting the translation from the back to find that sooner.

Thorkatla started talking to Gudrun and she picked a leaf off a bush and hands it to her and tells her to eat it. Thorkatla questions it, but she says they’re trying to figure out what can be eaten. It tastes terrible and Thorkatla spit it out.

There was some discussion again about the abandoned Fox village, and whether it would be good to move over there or start bringing building supplies from there back to Greenmoot. The Jarl wants to leave this as a last resort and see what can be done at the clan moudet.

We discussed the fact that we don’t have any Boar clan carts anymore and all we have is a Ravenclan cart that we can’t take with us. Erfidi, Thorkatla, and Skeld worked on taking apart the Ravenclaw cart to try to put it back together over the next few weeks. We left the chassis intact.

We built the frame correctly, but the walls are slanted and have some holes in them. Our DC for Deception for people to figure out it is a Ravenclan cart is 18.

Bronin spent time studying the runes in the Gnarlwood, the runestones, talking to Oksana, reminiscing, etc.

Balian studied with Bronin, thinking that his familiarity with Stonework might help with studying the stone runes. He doesn’t recognize the type of stone it is, other than that it is from the earth. The only other thing he noticed was that each had circles on it and they glowed when they were close together. He also noticed that if you bring the runestones together, but one is covered with a cloth, they don’t grow.

Bronin also practiced his dwarfish with Balian and learned to say “Bring the hairy bitches.”

Sigurd continued training the troops with Fulrigg and impresses Fulrigg more than a few times with things he knows and tactics he can talk about and he actually ends up teaching Fulrigg a few things.

Fulrigg let Thorkatla know that he would be interested in continuing to get it on. Thorkatla thought it could be beneficial so went along with it.

The time arrived for the clan moudet. Jarl Agatha took the six of us and left Fulrigg behind to take care of Greenmoot.

We all headed out toward the moudet, enjoying a cart ride where we’re not tied up. A few days later, we arrived in Laurelsong. Skeld and Erfidi felt instantly inspired upon being home.

Sigurd stuck close to the Jarl to guard her.

Erfidi and Thorkatla went with Skeld to check out his family’s alehouse. The doors were closed and chained and it was completely empty. A passerby says they closed because they were all magic users. Skeld says Brethel, the Trollsplitter was not, but the passerby has no idea where he is. Skeld found a window that could possibly be opened and Thorkatla pried it open. We all squeezed through it into a broom closet.

When we left the closet, everything seems to have been untouched. We went up to Skeld’s parents’ bedroom, but no one was there and everything is untouched. All of their stuff was still there. There were actually some neatly folded clothes on the bed. Looking through the closet and it looks like one of his rucksacks is missing and his axe is also missing from the main hall where it was displayed in the statue of his father.

Thorkatla popped the chains off the front door and we decided to stay there for the night. Erfidi and Thorkatla will stay in Gudrun’s room.

Sigurd went with the Jarl to get set up in the rooms that were provided to her for the moudet.

Moudet:
Day 1 will be non-combat events and contests while everyone is arriving
Day 2 will be combat events and contests. Evening will be the clan moudet where the Jarls make their requests of the king
Day 3 has another moudet in the morning with the king’s responses and the rest of the day is spent with heavy drinking and celebrating in the streets. Considered very rude to leave on this night.
Day 4 everyone usually leaves.

Thorkatla will compete in Archery.
Sigurd will compete in strength and dueling.
Skeld will compete in Poetry and Dancing.
Erfidi will compete in Song and Dancing.

We pretended to chain the door and Skeld went to the Jarl and told her about his home, but she said someone might be offended if we don’t stay in the area given to us, so we will all stay with her.

Balian went to the bar, and got drunk and was bragging to everyone that he was going to win the strength contest the next day. He spent some time trying to get with the women in the bar, but has no luck. It took him about 15 women to find one of medium comeliness who was into it just for the novelty, but only on one condition, if she’d let her friend come too. No matter how drunk he looks (stumbling through a backflip), they’re still into it because he’s like a puppy stuck on his back pissing into his face.

Bronin wandered the street, musing on his normal musings. He ended up at the library, looking for more information in different books around the town. He found a passage in a book by the same guy that wrote the book about the wildlife that Bronin found before. He said sometimes the more primal humanoid races can be tangential just like animals were. He has a book on Tangential creatures and their origins and thoughts on them. It focuses on dire creatures, but has some details about them that aren’t well known.

After about another hour among the tomes and scrolls, Bronin got the impression he was not alone. He turned around and there was someone at the end of the aisle that he was in and kind of peering around the corner at him, but they rushed away when he turned to look. He followed and it was a man in hus about 20s or 30s with dark hair, but the guy took off even though Bronin was calling out to him.

Bronin followed him to a more desolated part of town where he turned down into an alleyway. The man disappeared through a door into a small building. Bronin follows him in and there is a very small room with a simple table with two chairs. The man is standing with his back to the far wall close to another door. He motions Bronin in and points to one of the seats.

Now that he’s closer, Bronin recognizes Tannen Inksson, the justice for the Ravenclan. Tannen smiles and goes out the other door and Prince Aldorf comes through it.

He said that Bronin’s ally sent him a message and told him that the situation in the Boar clan has turned dire. Bronin confirmed this. He then said that if the Boar clan were to perish he would be saddened so maybe they could continue building their relationship and work together to make sure that doesn’t happen. He has a few carts of extra stone and lumber and building supplies that we could have. When Bronin asked what we need to do in return, Prince Aldorf said that he needed us to go where he could not. He then asked what Bronin knew about the Goat clan. Bronin told him what we had learned while we were there to pick up Mollie.

The Goat clan is a bit of an oddity among the clans because they don’t believe in a single strong leader, they instead believe that many voices providen the strongest leadership (a council of leaders) that govern and sometimes direct the Jarl in the actions they will take. They seem to keep the Jarl position only for continuation of their relationship with the rest of the clans. Jarl Kenna is having problems with the council as they disagree with her direction. Prince Aldorf has heard that they mean to ambush her on the return from the moudet.

Bronin responds that “We are not unfamiliar with ambushes” and Prince Aldorf made room for his dick on the table.

Bronin tells the prince that he’ll speak with Jarl Agatha and see what we can do to avoid this situation. The Prince cautions that we cannot be seen, he won’t be able to protect us if we’re found in other territory. He thinks the ambush will happen right after she crosses into Goat clan territory.

He handed Bronin a plain red cloth containing a crushed flower with white and pink petals. He says that once we save Jarl Kenna, to give those to her and she’ll know it’s from him. He says that he hopes we understand that he cannot have a public relationship with the Boar clan right now. He gets up and walks up.

Bronin headed back to see Jarl Agatha.

Thorkatla skulked around town, listening for random gossip. She heard people talking about a caravan train hanging around town. She went to investigate and there were 60 or 70 wagons full of lumber, surrounded by wolf clan members. She headed back toward Jarl Agatha to let her know.

Bronin and Thorkatla joined the rest of us except Balian (whose out getting his pipes cleaned). Bronin updated everyone on what he learned from Prince Aldorf.

“So a Justice of the Ravenclan and the Crown Prince of the Wolf clanned asked you, a member of the Boar clan, while sitting in the Stag clan to help the Jarl of the Goat clan…?”

Thorkatla mentioned seeing the wagons of supplies. Those could at least partly be what he is promising us.

The Jarl says that the amount of supplies we need would not go unnoticed so it seems reasonable that he’s asking us to risk something in exchange for the risk he’s taking. She says that it is up to us if we’re willing to risk our lives, we would also have the risk of someone seeing the Jarl traveling back by herself.

We mostly came to the consensus that we’ll try to help Jarl
Kenna and we’ll figure out the details over the next couple of days, including whether or not we are going to warn her first.

Erfidi went to see her father. He was running all the contests, arranging all the setting up for them. Skeld followed and the two of them hugged Eirikr. He says he had supplies for us but we might have to sneak them out. He can’t talk now, but he’ll come see us later.

The Bear clan contingent comes into town, including the Jarl and Kaija on her mammoth (Jarka) (this is the first moudet she’s come to) and Thorkatla’s mom. Skeld calls out to Kaija and she says hmm one of the strange ones. He asks her if she found the mindwalker. She said she ran the dwarves down and killed them, but she could not catch the elves. Kaija asks him about his runestone, since he didn’t have it before. She asked him where he got it. He said it was a gift sent it to him by the widow of a man who used to visit his father’s tavern. She asked why he carried it around with him. He says it is a keepsake and it means something to him because the man who it belonged to taught him most of the stories he tells.

Tulnan is still working with the bears, she said he was still working with them. She asked about Pijack because she heard we had met up with him. We told him about his alliance with the silk witch and that we had killed him. She says that the Jarl really hates Skeld.

Erfidi said hi to Thorkatla’s mom. She recognized us and said she thought she was coming with us. Erfidi asked if she was happy about that and she said it was better than chains and prison. She tells Skeld to give a woman a drink and likes that he can instantly refresh the ale in it.

Contest time
Poetry first – Skeld competing
Erfidi is sitting with Thorkatla’s mom to watch Skeld.

Grand Maegersson comes up first, Skeld and Erfidi recognize him as the “village drunk” in the stag clan, which is known for drinking. He stumbles up to stage to read his poem “Who”.

Who? Who? Who, I say.
Who has done this.
Who has done this
Who has done this, this day.
Who has boiled the butter
Who has tilled the soil
Who has brined the salmon
Who has left the beef to spoil
Who has drowned the brown goat
Who rumbles in the deep
Who gives us all a warm hug
Who lets their third eye weep
Who wets the west wind’s whistle
Who burns the lantern’s oil
Who seeks to spread the secrets
Of a shy and hidden coil
Who fuels the menfolk’s envy
Who leaves the maidens weak
Who ensures that all the babes are caressed upon their cheek

Who grinds down all the gemstones
Who whittles all the staves
Who grills up all the sausage
who unearths all the graves
Who stands upon the docks
and launches forth the goblin fleets
With a warmly southern breeze fills up their sailing sheets
Who
Who
Who has done this I say
I have done this
You have done this
We have done this
This day.

Dm rewinds… and repeats the poem after telling us all that this is… about a fart.

The drunk’s crowd of friends go wild while everyone else just looks around in eye rolling chagrin.

Skeld gets up to give his poem.

He first calls out to all the clans in greeting. Then he asks what everyone thought about the previous poet. He said he wanted to share his thoughts on him.

I find this all quite odd
This poet thinks he’s some kind of god,
Who needs be celebrated and awed,
But in truth, he must know he’s a fraud.
Those verses you stand here and squawk.
Are nothing but drivel and schlock!
But after this little talkYou’ll cry enough tears to fill a loch!
Little Bitch this is Ragnarock
Be Prepared to suck my cock.
To go up against Skeld the Skald,
Is very good way to get mauled!
So while I have you all enthralled,
Allow me to make you sorry we ever brawled.
The handsome warrior poet,
Who’s talent is so great he must show it!
Formerly a stag who loved to whore,
Now he’s one of the Tusks of the Boar!
The courageous Captain of the Meatboat,
His accomplishments are so great he must gloat!
With the strength of all of my friends,
We brought… the menace of the Korsca to an end!
We removed the thorn from the Bear’s paw,
Much to the clan’s shock and awe!
We survived the Wolf’s onslaught!
With courage and tenacity that just can’t be bought!
That’s enough for now, let’s end this Row.
Your rhynes are too weak and you are just too meek!
You actually considered yourself a challenge?
To that I salute you with a single phalange! (middle finger)

Skeld defeated Balian (after both of them peed themselves in the first couple rounds)

Skeld won 200 silver for his two contest wins.

There’s food and drinking for the rest of the evening.

Sigurd suggested that one of us should approach Jarl Kenna.

During Thorkatla’s skulking, she heard that the convoy was lumber going down to the shipyards in the southern part of the stag clan territory for boats. She didn’t hear anything about the ambush.

Skeld looked for Jarl Kenna, but couldn’t find her.

Thorkatla’s mom came to stay with us in Jarl Agatha’s rooms.

Skeld went to look for Jarl Kenna but couldn’t find her again.

Bronin went to find Kaija and found her. He told her that he’s done research on his runestone. He said he’s found that there are more of them. She seems underwhelmed by the findings.

Thorkatla and Erfidi both tried to find Jarl Kenna and couldn’t find her.

Sigurd stayed with the Jarl until time for the contests.

Kaija asked Sigurd if there’s anywhere good for food. Sigurd asked Skeld and Erfidi and they went to a place known for turkey legs.

Kaija had her hands full of her prize winnings and said she didn’t think about having to carry them around. Skeld tied a rope around each and loops it behind her neck. She asked him if his solution to everything is to tie it around his neck.

Sigurd and Skeld are both waving their cocks around trying to see who she would pay attention to. Erfidi offered her to leave them and go get food like she wanted, but she said she wanted to go wherever Sigurd wanted to go.

Sigurd and Kaija went off on their own and he spoke to her about the clan problems and what could be done, also offered whatever assistance we could be to the bear clan. She said the Jarl of the Bear clan really didn’t like Skeld. Sigurd says he has a good heart but he can take getting used to. He shares what has happened with the silk witch and Pijack to warn her. She listens but doesn’t input much. She thanks him for the meal but says she needs to get back because Jarka doesn’t like to be around others for long.

Skeld finds Thorkatla’s mom and tries to get it on, but Thorkatla finds them and interrupts while they’re eating. Thorkatla’s mom told them they should bang and awkwardness ensued.

DM will be giving me the additional poem that was read during the poetry contest to add to the blog soon.

The clan moudet will continue next session!
